Name - Paul Dytham
Year of birth - 1978
Main cycling activities - Audax (long distance cycling) and the occasional TT
Hobbies outside of cycling - Cars, squash, music, real ale drinking
Best cycling moment - Riding into Chepstow having ridden 625km to Anglesey and back in 37 hours, which completed my first Audax SR series and meant I qualified for Paris-Brest-Paris 1200km. (May 2007)
Worst cycling moment - Being forced to abandon Paris-Brest-Paris after 710km with food poisoning. (August 2007)
Favourite food - Crisps, green olives, coffee
Best excuse for poor performance- In time trials – because I don’t do enough or train for them! On an audax – either because I kept up with the really fast bunch for the first 50km then suffered later, or because I skipped a café stop.
Favourite music - Everything. Jazz, blues, rock, indie, hip hop, drum & bass, northern soul, classical…easier to say I detest country, opera and modern R ‘n’ B.
Training tip - If you want to go faster, practice going fast. If you want to go further, do more miles…and buy a Brooks saddle!
Carbon or Titanium? - My ‘race’ bike is aluminium. My audax bike is steel. Both have carbon forks and titanium stems. If I had the money, however, I’d be talking to Merlin or Litespeed about a Ti frame.
Turbo or Road? - Rain & scenery every time.
