Name - Ian Locock

Year of birth - 1951

Main cycling activities – TT and climbing TDF cols

Hobbies outside of cycling – There’s not much time left after cycling and work, but I do have an interest in wildlife and travel

Best cycling moment - Causing Alf Engers to climb off in a 25 on the P2 because I was up on him

Worst cycling moment - The 1966 Solent and District 25.  It was blowing at Force 10 with torrential rain and hail for the whole hour and eighteen minutes I was riding it.  I was 14 and it was my third 25.

Combined Best & Worst cycling moment – Climbing the Hautacam in July 2010.  Probably the hardest and most painful climb I have ever done, but the sense of achievement at the top was second to none.

Favourite food - Turkey Stroganoff or anything Italian

Best excuse for poor performance – I was suffering from ‘flu (not just man ‘flu either).  Spent the next 5 days in bed

Favourite music - Eric Clapton, 1960’s and 1970’s

Training tip – Don’t underestimate the benefits of level 2 and rest

Carbon or Titanium? - Carbon every time

Turbo or Road? - Both have their place in an effective training plan

What have we missed? Family, partners, pets, obsessions? - No kids
Wife Rose, who is the loveliest woman I have ever met and just improves with age
2 x Cats – Roland & Henry

Obsessions - Cycling
