Name John Burrows

Year of birth 1960

Main cycling activities  TT’s a bit of road, cyclo cross, mountain biking, and Audax

Hobbies outside of cycling  canoeing, surfing and walking.

Best cycling moment         standing in the showers, bleeding from groin and feet after 82 hours on the bike in Paris at the end of Paris Brest Paris (1979). Or in a National 24 at about 2am in the middle of nowhere hearing my Dad cheer me on from the roadside.

Worst cycling moment Early hours of the morning, descending a Welsh mountainside on a 400km Audax, having Chris Davies (CCP of the CTC) appear alongside me stating ‘minus 12 don’t you know)! I did, my hands were welded to the bars, which of course were steel in those days!. Or, during some Pyrenean Col storming on the tandem with Mary, descending and realizing, without telling her, that the brake blocks had cooked and melted away!

Favorite food Spag bol, or a good roast with loads of veg.

Best excuse for poor performance not enough sleep (Well I too have two young kids)

Favorite music        right old mixture, Floyd to Plant, KT Tunstal to Supertramp.

 Training tip   sleep

Carbon or Titanium?         How about a bit of both!

Turbo or Road?      Road

What have we missed? Family, partners, pets, obsessions?

My lovely wife Mary, Lucy my 9 year old cyclo-cross champ and two year old Alex, who keeps me awake, (but I love them all)
