"Mike Malins remembered"

Mikes funeral took place on Monday 26th November. Members of the club attended the humanist service at Weymouth. Mikes father John Malins has written to our club secretary Eddie Beck expressing thanks for the support from Poole Wheelers members. John reflected on Mikes enthusiasm for cycling and the club. Like many of us, Mike was always very keen to discuss his latest times with close family. Mike's sudden departure was as a result of a long term heart defect which showed no symptoms.

Mike returned to competitive cycling this year and quickly regained his old form, but he was no stranger to the sport having raced with the club for many years. The Archive section of the South DC shows many of Mike's outstanding race times. His love of cycling was evident to many people living in the Purbecks as he could be seen out training  both before and after work. Mikes energy and determination will stand as a reminder to us all of the best qualities of a racing cyclist.
